Keine Kamishirasawa

Name: Keine Kamishirasawa (Kamishirasawa Keine)

Abilities: In human form, can consume (hide) history. In hakutaku form, can create and change history.

Personal Information

Keine is the owner, and History teacher of the Human Village school. With her ability to manipulate history, she acts as the guardian of the village consuming (hiding) the village history. She seems to have a strong desire to protect humans and would probably be the safest person in Gensokyo for any human to be around. She has brown eyes, long silver hair with blue highlights. She wears a hat that looks like some sort of a building with a red ribbon on top and glyphs inscribed along it's sides. Her dress is dark blue with white short sleeves and a red ribbon is tied at the end of the collar. While in her hakutaku form, she has red eyes, long silver hair with green highlights and horns. Her dress is dark green with white short sleeves and a red ribbon tied at the end of the collar. Her current age is unknown.

Fun Facts

*Her punishment for forgetting homeworks is a headbutt.

*A common mistake about her abilities is that people mistakes the ability of hakutaku-Keine as to be able to erase history, however her actual ability is to create and change history whilst in her humanoid form is to consume (hide) it, fundamentally she can only conceal it not erase.

*As a teacher, she is commonly addressed by the respectful title of "Keine-sensei".

*In some fan works, Keine is depicted as a cow (complete with milk jokes) due to her appearance in hakutaku form.

*She is also often depicted with large breast with the above as one of the reason.

*Keine is the wisest of the half-beast.

*Upon seeing full moon, she will transform into a hakutaku. She was not born a were-hakutaku though.

*The history of Gensokyo is that which is created by her. Thing's doesn't become history merely by happening, they must be made history.

Fujiwara no Mokou

Name: Fujiwara no Mokou

Species: Human

Abilities: Eternal youth and immortality, resistance to and manipulation of fire

Personal Information

Formerly an ordinary human, Mokou became an immortal after drinking the Hourai Elixir 1300 years ago. She is never able to die, though she still feels the pains of injury as normal. She is considered to be very powerful because she has lived for many years and because she cannot die, therefore she can continue fighting until she can no longer stand the pain. She hated Kaguya to the extend of to continues to detest Kaguya for more than a thousand years because Kaguya humiliated her father by turning down his marriage proposal. When not fighting Kaguya, she aids the nearby villager by exterminating youkai and will even guide them safely to Eientei for medical treatment. Her actions indicate that she may be a good person. She has red eyes, and angle-length light violet hair. She wears a light brown shirt that appears as if it has been discolored by fire and dark red overalls that are randomly decorated with paper charms. Her hair is also tied with the same paper charm. She is currently ageless but has existed for over 1300 years.

Fun Facts

*The paper talismans on Mokou's pants and hair ribbons might be wards to protect them against being burned by fire. Her shirt which lacks those talisman, appears to have been burned repeatedly, while the ribbons and pants show no such wear.

*Because Mokou cannot die, there are some parts of Gensokyo that she cannot visit, such as Hakugyokurou. This is because being in the netherworld is equivalent to being dead as quoted by Yuyuko and Mokou herself.

*The fact that it took the combined effort of her, Kaguya and several rabbits to put out a forest fire implies that while she is capable of starting and increasing fire, she might not necessarily be able to extinguish it.

*She seems to have a good relationship with the members of Eientei despite her feud with Kaguya and is willing to lead the rabbits home. She also seems to have a good relationship with Keine Kamishirasawa.

*Due to her power of resurrection and manipulation of fire, Mokou is often depicted as having the same powers as the mythical phoenix.

*Even when rescuing humans, she rarely says a word to them. However she has been seen more often lately.

*If asked she will escort anyone safely through the forest or to Eientei and the only thing she say is "I'm a health nut that runs a yakitori stand."

Shikieiki Yamaxanadu

Name: Shikieiki Yamaxanadu

Species: Yama

Abilities: Can distinctly judge anything to be Good or Evil

Personal Information

Shikieiki is one of the Yama who judge the dead to decide whether they go to Heaven, Hell, Hakugyokurou or get reincarnated. She's become well known in Gensokyo because she has a habit to lecture anyone and everyone about their fault. The souls of the dead are brought to her by Komachi over a river called the Sanzu no Kawa. She currently resides in Hell to judge the dead who've traversed to Higan and the Sanzu no Kawa. She has blue eyes, green hair that is longer on the left side, wears a dark blue, black and white dress with gold decorations with one ribbon on both sleeves and a blue and white hat with a gold emblem in front and a red and white bow on the back that are balanced equally. Her current age is unknown but it is speculated that she is immortal.

Fun Facts

*Carries a rod that carries out Judgement of Death.

*In fan art, she is seen as aggressive against other people with "larger breast", to the point of even arbitrarily sending them to hell.

*Some fan art portrays Shikieiki being envious of Komachi's bust size in particular, but sending Komachi to hell usually is not an option.

*Because of her job and Komachi's attitude, she is usually seen striking Komachi with the "Rod of Remorse" for being a slacker.

*She carries her rod everywhere. She even appears to carry it in her character portrait.

*She does not discriminate between youkai and humanity.

*While Shikieiki's combat capacity is never directly showed, but Yukari Yakumo believes that herself, Yuyuko Saigyouji and Reimu Hakurei to be together "no match for" the Yama.

*According to Komachi, Shikieiki is actually a jizoe statue, who received enough faith to gain divine powers, and was promoted.

*Even Shikieiki has work breaks, but even during these she doesn't pass up the chances to lecture people.

*Yamaxanadu is actually her job title meaning "Yama of Paradise".

*Shikieiki was not always the Yamaxanadu. Rather, she earns this position through her merits.

Komachi Onozuka

Name: Komachi Onozuka (Onozuka Komachi)

Species: Shinigami

Abilities: Manipulation of distance

Personal Information

Komachi is widely known in Gensokyo as being a slacker shinigami. Her pace of work is slow and she is rather a carefree individual. In Scarlet Weather Rhaspody, after she had defeated Tenshi in a battle, she called Tenshi immortality as a sham, but unable to send her to the Netherworld as she is simply a ferryman shinigami rather than a reaper. She has red eyes, short pinkish hair with two ponytails tied by two double hair beads. She wears a white dress with blue vest overtop and an obi belt with a large coin tied at the center and carry a scythe with a wisp-like bending on the end. Her current age is unknown but it is speculated that she is immortal.

Fun Facts

*Fans usually depicts Komachi's boat as a small wooden boat that must be pushed by a wooden pole, but she refers to her boat as the "Titanic".

*Fanart tends to portray Komachi as being large-chested perhaps based on the remark of her being a "Tall and Imposing" character in Touhou. Her art depiction in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody is remarkable for being one of the few character with a visible bust.

*In Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, she mentions that it would be very convenient if she were to have a book which brings death to anyone whose name is written on it. This is a reference to the anime series "Death Note".

*She loves to talk.

*She uses her ability to manipulate distance to make the width of the river inversely proportional to what relatives spent on the deceased after death.

*Her boat which is hand-rowed, is fairly plain and unadorned; it maybe the standard issue from a financially troubled Hell.

Yuyuko Saigyouji

Name: Yuyuko Saigyouji (Saigyouji Yuyuko)

Species: Ghost

Abilities: Can invoke death in mortal

Personal Information

Yuyuko is the ghost 'princess' of Hakugyokurou, the netherworld, of the "formerly living", but was once a living human. She has the power to invite mortal souls to death, and those soul who perish this way wind up in Hakugyokurou rather than Heaven or Hell. Humans fear her because of her tremendous power, but she is very cheerful and friendly. She is also described as an airhead. She has maroon eyes, short wavy pink hair. She wears a light blue and white kimono with dark blue trim and a blue mob cap, on the front of which is a hitaikakushi with a red ghost insignia. She appears to have existed for at least 1000 years.

Fun Facts

*Though it might seem dangerous for such a whimsical, seemingly impulsive personality to wield such tremendous power, Yuyuko appears to have a strong sense of responsibility regarding her power and never used it recklessly or out of spite, nor does she use it as a weapon.

*Long ago after her death from suicide, her body was used to place a seal on the Saigyou Ayakashi a dangerous Youkai cherry tree to stop it from killing innocent humans.

*Yuyuko became famous as a "hungry ghost" due to several "gluttonous" lines uttered during her scenario in "Touhou Imperishable Night".

*She is often depicted in fanworks as having an immense appetite or attempting to eat other characters, most notably Youmu's ghost-half.

*Impressed by her unwillingness to curse people, she was appointed by the great Yama to manage the soul of the dead.

*With her ability to manipulate death, she can kill someone with no resistance.

*Her personality is extraordinary easygoing that it is said she doesn't remember how long she's been in the Netherworld.

*It seems that she cannot remember what she had for breakfast.

Youmu Konpaku

Name: Youmu Konpaku (Konpaku Youmu)

Species: Half-human half-phantom hybrid

Abilities: Swordfighting, Concentration, Superhuman speed

Personal Information

Youmu is one of the strange entities in Gensokyo, being half-human half-phantom at the same time. Her two halves are not intermixed like one would expect from a cross-breed, instead they exist in physically separate bodies. She has a straightforward and focused personality, which complements her swordfighting skills well. She serves her mistress Yuyuko as best as she can such as tending garden in Hakugyokurou and following her orders. Her human half has dark blue eyes and short silver hair. She wears a dark green and white dress with several ghost insignia along the edges and breast pocket. She also wears a black ribbon placed off-center on her hair. Her ghostly half is a formless white phantom as large as her human half. The two halves are always seen together. Her current age is less than 60 years old.

Fun Facts

*Her phantom half is often treated in fanworks as "food" (usually eaten by Yuyuko).

*She wields 2 swords "Roukanken" and "Hakurouken". Roukanken is the longer blade an capable to kill 10 ghost in on swipe. The shorter blade, Hakurouken is capable to cleave through a person's own confusion.

*Because of her spell card "200 Yojana in One Slash" she is said to be capable of striking at speeds most would consider physically impossible (200 Yojana can be 1,320-3000km in length). In order to cover that kind of distance in one slash, she would have to be able to be capable of moving at far beyond hypersonic speed. Her slowest slash has been calculated to move at the speed exceeding Mach 70.

*Ironically enough, considering her species, Youmu is afraid of ghost. It is a wonder why she doesn't cower away from Yuyuko whom herself is a ghost.

*Her appearance does not differ from human but she has a much longer lifespan than one.

*In the game "League Of Legends" there is an item called "Youmuu's Ghostblade" as tribute to Touhou.

*She patrols daily at the Netherworld on the morning and at night, for she is very dedicated to her work.

*Unlike normal Youkai, she won't attack all of the sudden unless provoked, and one would probably get her not to attack if they apologized to her.

Hong Meiling

Name: Hong Meiling (Meiling Hong)

Species: Youkai

Abilities: Chinese Martial Arts, Control of Chi

Personal Information

Hong Meiling lives in the Scarlet Devil Mansion and work as the gatekeeper. She is usually lazy at her job such as slacking and sleeping, though. She also practices martial arts. She has dark green eyes, long scarlet hair with 2 braids with black bow at the ends. She wears a green hat with a golden star in the middle, an olive green and white dress with black ribbon. Her current age is unknown.

Fun Facts

*She is widely known as "China" (pronounced Chuugoku).

*Despite the fact that she has some of the most impressive combos in the game, she does not have her own storyline.

*Fans usually depict her caring for Sakuya when she was a child. Additionally, they both have braided sideburns with ribbons.

*Many of her lines in Touhou Hisoutensoku indicate that Meiling has a boastful pride in China.

*Meiling's winning quote in Touhou Hisoutensoku does not indicate that Sakuya abuses her but rather builds a formal, friendly setting between the two.

*Meiling's told Sakuya that she always goes easy on her. If it were a formal match, she would and could very easily took the Chief Maid down.

*For obvious reason, Meiling is sometimes compared to Chun-Li from Street Fighter on notable traits.

*She is a well-rounded youkai, skilled in martial arts rather than focusing on a single power.

*She is unusually human like, and will chat with humans while on the job, as long as they don't try to get through her gate.

*She performs Tai Chi Chuan daily, and has a nap at noon.

*The best way to beat her is straightforwardly, in a formal match.
